C-Hero® is a portable easy-to-operate man overboard rescue system designed for workboats – developed by an experienced tugboat captain – that can be operated by one or two crew members. Capt. Shane Smith spent a good part of his career training crews and helping companies with audits of their man overboard systems. He started C-Hero in a garage with the notion of helping crews with MOB recovery. He developed a lightweight easy-to-use system that can be used by one or two crew members – even while underway – to retrieve a person in less than three minutes. The system consists of a portable Rescue Davit (available in bitt-mount configuration for tugboats and a flush mount configuration for workboats and ferries) and Rescue Pole – each sold separately. The system is manufactured by Harken Industrial.
